We're underway at The Hawthorns.
West Brom win an early free-kick at the half-way line as Merino bundles over Rondon.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between West Brom and Newcastle at The Hawthorns.
Newcastle are in danger of sliding into the lower depths of the Premier League, having lost their last four matches. Rafael Benitez's men were hammered at the weekend by Watford at St James' Park, losing 3-0 to the Hornets, although it could have been a lot worse. The Spaniard needs a response from his team with tough fixtures on the horizon over the festive period.
The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Megson has made one change to his side that drew with Tottenham at the weekend for this evening's contest. Hal Robson-Kanu comes into the starting line-up to replace Jay Rodriguez, who drops to the bench.
FLASHBACK! West Brom won this contest 1-0 the last time the two sides met at The Hawthorns in the Premier League as Darren Fletcher scored the only goal of the game.
STAT ATTACK! West Brom have won two of their last three home league games against Newcastle.
STAT ATTACK! West Bromwich Albion have won only one game and six points (W1 D3 L6) in their last 10 Premier League games at The Hawthorns.
STAT ATTACK! Newcastle have secured just one win and six points in their last 17 Premier League away games (W1 D3 L13).
Newcastle have made five changes to their line-up from their defeat to Watford. Karl Darlow replaces Rob Elliot between the sticks, while Chancel Mbemba comes into the side at left-back. Mikel Merino, Isaac Hayden and Ayoze Perez also start as Jonjo Shelvey, Dwight Gayle, Mohamed Diame and Javier Manquillo drop to the bench. Benitez keeps faith with Joselu to lead the line ahead of Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.
Alan Pardew could be named West Brom manager in the near future, but Gary Megson remains in charge of the Baggies this evening. The caretaker boss had a solid first game in charge as he guided his side to a point against Tottenham at Wembley at the weekend. Megson will be aiming to sign off on a high note before he hands the reins to Pardew by beating the struggling Magpies.
HALF-TIME: WEST BROM 1-0 NEWCASTLE
West Brom strike just before the interval as Hal Robson-Kanu converts and Rafael Benitez walks back to the tunnel with fury in each stride. There was little between the two teams in the opening 45 minutes. Both had half-chances, but were not overly threatening in the final third until the Baggies opened up Newcastle right at the death. Gary Megson will be pleased as his team-talk will be easier, but his opposite number was visibly fuming. A big second half awaits the Magpies.
The players are back out for the second half. So we should be underway shortly.
FULL-TIME: WEST BROM 2-2 NEWCASTLE
Newcastle stage a comeback to avoid losing five matches on the bounce. The Magpies looked beaten at 2-0 down after goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Field had put West Brom in control at The Hawthorns. However, Ciaran Clark got a goal back almost immediately before Matt Ritchie's free-kick was deflected into his own net by Jonny Evans. Both managers will feel that their teams should have got more from the game, but it ends a point apiece.
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
